Pre-sales questions
Q. Will you place ads on my site?
A. No Host Hong Kong will NOT place ads on your site.
Q. Do you allow sites to advertise for money, on their web site?
A. Yes we allow sites to have commercial advertisements.
Q. Do you have a large download file I can test?
A. Yes we do you can test the download speed for our US, and HK servers. Click here for our USA Server and here for our HK server.
Q. What forms of payment do we accept?
A. We accept all major credit/debit cards and Paypal. We can process credit cards through a number of gateways including: 2Checkout, GoogleCheckout and Paypal. We also accept bank wire transfers to our US, UK and HK bank accounts. Domestic wire transfers from the the same bank are free of fees!
Q. Are your server's Unix, or NT? (For shared and reseller)
A. Our server's are Linux CentOS.
Q. Do you allow adult sites?
A. Yes we allow adult sites.
Q. Is tax included with my monthly or yearly plan?
A. Hong Kong has no sales tax. The price quoted is the price that will be paid. There will be no added taxes or charges. However, depending on your government, it may be a legal requirement for you to pay tax on any internet services despite the use of Hong Kong servers.
Q. What control panel do you use and do you have a demo? (For shared and reseller)
A. All of our shared and reseller servers use Direct Admin control panel. A demo of Direct Admin can be found here.
Q. Can I pay monthly?
A. Yes you can pay monthly
Q. How long does it take to setup my account?
A. Shared, reseller and VPS plans are normally setup instantly, however it may take upto 1 working day. Dedicated servers normally take 1 working day, but sometimes it can take as long as 7. Colocation servers can be setup within a day of arriving at our data center.
Q. Are there any hidden, or setup fee cost?
A. No. All charged are as they are with nothing extra!
Q. Do you offer telnet or shell access? (For shared and reseller)
A. Not by default but we can provide limited shell access on demand. Please contact customer support to apply for shell access.
Q. Can I password protect directories? (For shared and reseller)
A. Yes you can password protect directories.
DNS
Q. How long does it take to get my domain working?
A. It can take 24-48 hours for a domain to fully propagate.
Q. Can I view my site even though my domain's name servers haven't propagated yet? (For shared and reseller)
A. Yes, please contact us for details.
Q. What do I set my domains name servers to? (For shared and reseller)
A. Please login to the billing system to see which DNS to point your domain name to. If you are unsure, you shoud contact us
Control panel
Q. Where do I go to login to my control panel?
A. Go to http://yourdomain.com:2222. Please note that if your domain has not propagated to us, this will not work and you may have to contact us for assistance.
Q. Do you have Fantastico (automatic script installer)?
A. Fantastico is only available on our US Cpanel Servers. We use Installatron for or all of our Hong Kong Direct Admin servers. In fact, this is better than Fantastico as it has more features and can install more scripts!
FTP
Q. Where can I download and FTP client from?
A. We recommend you try looking at http://www.download.com for an ftp program.
Q. It's not letting me upload my files what's wrong?
A. Make sure you are uploading to the right web directory, which is www or public_html.
Paths
Q. What is the path to my users files?
A. The path is /home/username/public_html.
Q. What is the local path to perl?
A. The path to perl is /usr/local/bin/perl.
Q. What is the path to perl?
A. The path to perl is /usr/bin/perl.
Q. What is the path to sendmail?
A. The path to sendmail is /usr/sbin/sendmail.
